Joint Commission Accreditation

OSF Medical Group is certified by The Joint Commission, meaning OSF Medical Group: demonstrates a commitment to the highest level of patient safety and patient care; has a nationally acknowledged benchmark of quality; stays current on best practices; and is able to attract, recruit and retain a high quality staff.

The Joint Commission bases its certification on standards-based performance areas, including: environment of care; emergency management; infection prevention and control; information management; leadership; medication management; national patient safety goals; and performance improvement.

Diabetes Recognition

All OSF Medical Group regions have received Diabetes Recognition from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). This program recognizes providers who use evidence-based measures and provide excellent care to their patients with diabetes. 

The program has 10 measures, which cover areas such as: HbA1c control; blood pressure control; LDL control; eye examinations; nephropathy assessment; and smoking status and cessation advice or treatment.

Receiving this Diabetes Recognition means OSF Medical Group is part of an elite group which is publicly recognized for its skill in providing the highest-level diabetes care.

Heart/Stroke Recognition

All OSF Medical Group regions have also received Heart/Stroke Recognition from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). This program recognizes providers who use evidence-based measures and provide excellent care to persons with cardiovascular disease or who have had a stroke.

The program assesses key quality performance measures, such as: blood pressure control; complete lipid profile; cholesterol control; use of aspirin or another antithrombotic; and smoking status and cessation advice or treatment.

By receiving this Heart/Stroke Recognition, OSF Medical Group demonstrates its ability to provide high quality, evidenced–based care for their cardiovascular disease and stroke patients.
