Ginnetti Nominated for Family Physician of the Year
Richard A. Ginnetti, MD is one of three finalists for the 2009 Illinois Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) Family Physician of the Year Award. Dr. Ginnetti is the Regional Director of the OSF Medical Group – Bloomington group and practices at OSF Medical Group - St. Joseph Drive, 308 St. Joseph Drive, in Bloomington, Illinois.
The award for Family Physician of the Year is presented annually to an outstanding IAFP member that exemplifies the excellence of the family doctor and the contributions they make to the continuing health of families. Selection for the award is based primarily on the individual's outstanding service to patients and the community, and his/her dedication to the specialty of family medicine. IAFP received letters from colleagues and patients supporting each nominee.
Dr. Ginnetti earned his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. He served his residency at Southern Illinois University Decatur Family Practice in Decatur. Dr. Ginnetti has spent all 22 years of his practice serving in Illinois. He has been with OSF Medical Group since 1993. In addition, he has been a Federal Aviation Administration medical examiner since 1988.His community service includes volunteering at the Community Health Clinic, physician advisor to the local Easter Seals Camp and serving as the team physician for Normal Community High School's football team.
Dr. James McCriskin, cardiologist at Illinois Heart and Lung in Normal, Illinois, has known Dr. Ginnetti for nearly 20 years and said, "Dr. Ginnetti is an intelligent, ethical, compassionate, dedicated and selfless physician who consistently puts the needs and care of his patients above any personal, financial or institutional priorities.
