OSF Medical Group Announces Galesburg Leadership Changes
Dr. James Nesselroad, a member of the OSF Medical Group since 1994, is the new Regional Director for the OSF Medical Group - Galesburg Region effective October 1.
Dr. Richard Flacco, who has been the Regional Director of OSF Medical Group – Galesburg Region since its inception there in 1994, has stepped down from his current role as Regional Director to concentrate on his primary care practice duties.
Under Dr. Flacco’s leadership, the OSF Medical Group - Galesburg Region has grown significantly over the years. Dr. Gerald McShane, President and CEO of the OSF Medical Group, said, “I’ve known Dr. Flacco for many years and he is one of those physicians whose leadership efforts cannot be summed up easily. We are all very grateful for his leadership service and look forward to many more years with him in his clinical role.”
In addition to his busy practice schedule, Dr. Nesselroad currently serves as Assistant Administrator of Clinical Activities for OSF St. Mary Medical Center since 2004 and as Medical Director of OSF Home Care Services - Home Health for the Galesburg area since 2000.
Dr. Nesselroad completed his B.S. degree in Biology from St. John’s University in Collegville, Minnesota. He attained his medical degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. He entered the OSF St Francis Medical Center General Surgery Residency with the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria (UICOMP) in 1991. He transferred to the SIU-Quincy Family Practice Residency in 1993 to train with his future wife, Valerie. He completed the residency in 1995, last serving as Chief Resident. He completed his EMBA thru Bradley University – Foster College of Business Administration in 2005. He currently holds many academic positions, including as Clinical Assistant Professor and as a Preceptor for the Rural Student Physician Program at UICOMP since 1997; as clinical Assistant Professor at University of Illinois-College of Medicine at Rockford; at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and also at SIU.
He has also served on several committees with OSF St. Mary Medical Center, including as Chairman of its Institutional Review Board and as President of its Executive Committee. In 2003, he was a presenter for OSF’s annual Mission programs for employees.
